Bethesda, MD (June, 20 2014) – Association TRENDS is set to release the Association Social Media Report: 2014, in early July to provide association social media coordinators a detailed look at competing and peer institutions’ social media efforts over the past year. The report takes an in-depth look at a sample of 350+ associations’ Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Pinterest activity from the past year and compares it to the previous year’s data, providing a comprehensive understanding of how associations’ social media programs are evolving.

“The social media landscape is constantly changing, and associations have to adapt quickly to keep up,” said survey coordinator Kathleen Anders. “Just this year, we saw a dramatic change in Facebook’s News Feed algorithm, which sent marketers scrambling. The report illuminated for us just how big of an effect this had on associations’ social media programs.” The Association Social Media Report: 2014 includes the following data on over 350 associations:

  • Adoption levels for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and Pinterest broken down by association size and scope, sector, and member type.

  • Changes in Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and Pinterest adoption rates over the past year, broken down by association size and scope, sector, and member type.

  • Rankings of the top 25 associations in each of the five social media platforms.

  • Average activity levels and how those averages changed between 2013 and 2014.

  • Detailed tables of each association’s Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Pinterest activity.

“Given the continuous need to adapt, it’s more important than ever for associations to know how their social media programs stack up against their peers, if for no other reason than to make sure they don’t get left behind,” remarked Joel Poznansky, President of Columbia Books Inc., parent company of Association Trends. “This report does just that.”
